I wanted to participate in the Porch Party but my PC is acting up as usual and I am SO tired sitting here waiting for things to load. I didn't want anyone to click on a party-less post tho.... so here's whatcha get, lol!

Welcome to Rhondi's Porch Party, 2009!
If you'd like to view last year's post, click here. We are just getting our hanging baskets and such on the porch now, so I'd love it if you come back in a month or so and visit again!
But since you're here....I'll show you the furniture I painted on Saturday. Just like the white wicker I had, these were all found in the trash over the years.

This is our house back in 1972. I was fortunate to find some previous owners and they shared these photos with us! This was before the *cough* siding was put on.
Here's a photo from a few years ago before we painted the house, showing the white furniture. I kept the chair on the right, but the rest went to the curb and has already been picked up, yay! Oh, I kept that table too.
This shows the new paint job from last year~I wish the floor would've stayed glossy and fresh forever. First up, Brentwood rocker. Yep. It's filthy and nasty, but I have a thing for them. I can't even remember where I picked it up, hmm...
This table was in the dumpster behind my work~
My friend Kim picked up this curb side beauty for me and I have used it in my office for years. Time to refresh it tho. (Thanks again Kim!)
So here's the *new* furniture!
The mandevillas are just getting started as well~

Wish me luck!
There's plenty of left over swirled orange and pink cheesecake cupcakes I made for my sister's bridal luncheon this past Saturday.... help yourself!
Note the missing cupcake...*snort*
I cut a rose that was past it's prime, but couldn't bare to just toss it so I scattered the petels here. This is a rose that we transplanted from my late Grandmother's garden this spring. I had no idea what color they were, so it's very exciting!
Enjoy the rest of your tour, I'm going to bed, lol! I shall visit y'all tomorrow~There's plenty of left over swirled orange and pink cheesecake cupcakes I made for my sister's bridal luncheon this past Saturday.... help yourself!

Fiddle dee dee ~ that's what I call a fine porch! Mmm.. swirly cheescake. May I have a bite?
Nikki,
I love your porch and your furniture! Looks so much better painted. I just bought gray floor paint too to paint the floor of my porch. I've never done that before. It is just natural old wood right now. I know that paint will make it look better. Did you prime it first?
I think that your home is beautful!
Wow, what a stunning transformation! The "found" furniture is perfect and makes the porch experience so much more like a haven.
You did a great job transforming both the porch and the furniture as well.
Carolyn
Your porch is the real thing - love it. I also like the 'found' furniture. Way more fun than a lot of stuff from a shop. Good luck with the new cushions - although the current ones look homey and cosy.
O, my...I do wish I could find furniture such as this. Just fabulous. Your porch is a dream...I love everything about it.
Enjoy it !!

Someday, I WILL have a house with a porch. But until then, I must live vicariously through you lucky ones who do.
Great furniture!
You clearly have a better quality of trash-at-the-curb than we do -- I never find things that nice anymore! Lovely stuff, beautifully transformed. Your house and porch are wonderful -- very pretty and welcoming. I'm looking forward to seeing it with it's hanging baskets soon!
Cass
What a beautiful porch transformation. I think I would like to come over for fresh lemonade and a cool breeze.
Love your Wizard of Oz dress, aren't you just so cute! Looks like you had fun!

Hi Nikki
What a wonderful transformation. I love your porch. I can sympathize with your frustration. I have had so many problems with the internet and blogger today also. Don't bo to bed. Visit some of the porches and when you find one you really like just stay there for the rest of the day!
Hugs, Rhondi
Your porch looks great! You did a nice job putting this post together with the before pics, etc.!
Anymore cupcakes??
Katherine
Hi Nikki -- I am back to say thanks for visiting That Old House! As for the color of the old shutters -- well, dark green peeled and cracked paint, with bits of lighter green from decades past peeking through. Does that help? :-)
Our shutters need help, but this year we are just hoping to keep them hanging on the house -- no budget for big ticket items! When we repaint the house, I think we'll go with white siding and black shutters -- a very classic look, what do you think? My kids want to keep the yellow, but the house used to be white eons ago.
Nice to meet another old house owner!
Cass
All I wanted was white wicker and now all I want is that furniture that's sitting on your porch... woman, it's just not right! Why do you have better curbside trash than everyone else?! LOL
The house is looking fabulous :)
hugs,
rue
Nikki, I loved your post. Wow, your house must love you. It is spectacular.
And, your porch is so lovely and inviting. Now, just who scarfed down that cupcake? ;-)
I've missed you at Pink Saturday.
Hi Nikki! So good to see your sweet porch. You have done such a great job! The cup cake looked yummy too!
Good luck with the M.E. look on the cushions. That will be perfection!
~Liz
Wow!! You guys did a wonderful job!! What a transformation!
Now that the work is done...all that is left is relaxing!!
I enjoyed your Porch Party!
Wow all that hard work paid off and I love the fact that you found some of the furniture. I do not have a porch now so I did not post today but am having so much fun peaking at all the porches.
Joyce

Hi Nikki! What a sumptuous makeover! I just love your home AND your blog, which I will be following from now on. Great to find you here! Kim
you and your husband did a great job restoring your old house's porch. I love it..it's so beautiuful. I love old houses..you are so lucky you get to live there. Your revamp of the furniture came out great.
Oh wow, I'm so glad you had the old pictures too! It's so nice to see how you're lovingly restoring and making the house back to its original beauty. And wow, but you do have a way with junked furniture! It looks great! I could see a red and white toile on those cushions.
Justine :o )
Hi Nikki! Me again!
I am not sure when this house was last painted on the outside; we bought the house a year ago, and it needs painting badly.
About 15 years ago, it was painted inside by Sherwin Williams for a television commercial, when they launched their historic colors paints (I'm hoping SW still has a copy of that spot around somewhere; I'd love to see it).
I only know that the house used to be white, because the pale yellow is worn enough that I can see beneath it. Peeling paint is very informative; I know the porch ceiling used to be blue, the shutters were a paler green, the porch floor was a lighter gray, and is made of oak -- all because of peeled patches. :-)
Since this year's income is WAY below last year's, projects like exterior painting are going to have to wait. So I've got time to decide color. I'd love cream, actually, but the surrounding houses are cream and tan -- too much beige on the block!
Cass
Are you the recylce diva or what? I love what you did with the pieces you acquired. Giving them new life and a place to rest. Priceless! Thanks for sharing them with us.
I'm having computer problems too, mostly with the wireless connection. xxoo
WOW - what a makeover! I am also a Mary Engelbriet LOVER! I love your music - adorable!
What a beautiful transformation! WOW! :)
I love wicker.........well, more of an obsessive love than just love. I want to come dumpster diving in your neck of the woods! Goodness girlie!
What a quaint place to sit.
Please stop by my blog! I've got some 1875 eye candy for ya!!! :)
Hugs
Heather:)
What a beautiful porch makeover. I'm so sorry about your table, shame on those who took it :(
Hey Nikki!
I love your porch...it's perfect and what wonderful trash to treasure furniture! My kinda deal for sure. I am sorry to hear that someone stole your table...that's pure scary, ya know? I hope that the police catch them.
Congrats to your sister....I hope that your her wedding turned out to be all she ever dreamed of, and I hope you stayed well through it too. I hope that everyone in your sweet family is doing well now. The trip to oz was awesome, it looked like so much fun...I always loved that move "The Wizard of Oz" when I was a little girl, Hek I still do love it! ....what a cute dress you made! Nova is getting so big, he'll be grown before you know it girl....it looks like you guys had a great time at that neat diner.
Thank you for visiting my porch post...I always love to see that you've stopped over. I hope to start posting more soon. We painted our kitchen pale green walls with white trim...I'm loving it....I hope to do a kitchen post one day in the near future, if the pictures will turn out right. LOL! Happy Birthday to you!
Hope you have a great week...
and I hope that only the best things come your way....
Big Hug,
Queenie~
Love the porch and furniture! What great finds. I really like your house!
